Politics, demographics and globalisation

„People power, power of the future“

Dr Helmut Brandstätter Member of the Austrian National Council

Politics, demographics and globalisation are inextricably linked issues that shape our modern world. The demographic situation of a society, the age structure and population development, has a direct impact on political decisions, particularly in the areas of health, education and social policy. At the same time, globalisation has brought our world closer together, be it in trade, communication or cultural exchange. Politics not only shapes laws and institutions, but also influences social dynamics and cultural developments. Globalisation promotes cultural exchange and intercultural understanding, leading to a rich cultural mosaic and broader understanding between nations. However, this diversity can also exacerbate inequality and environmental problems. Therefore, the intertwining of these focal points requires a balanced policy design to ensure a sustainable and equitable future.
